Equine First Aid, Biosecurity, and More!
At the BVDC Picnic held in Pottstown, PA in August 2020, we were fortunate to have one of our members - Jamie Guiberson - present an excellent educational program. Thanks to Tracey Freeman who took a video of the entire presentation, we are able to offer the replay to all members. Jamie also provided an outline and highlights from her talk which can be downloaded from this page (see “Handout” link).
During her presentation Jamie talked about first aid, including how to do a basic physical exam on your horse and some basic first aid supplies to have on hand. When your horse isn’t itself, this information will help you as you communicate with your veterinarian. She also talked about biosecurity...what it is, and why it’s important!
Jamie Guiberson became a certified veterinary technician 20 years ago, and has worked almost exclusively in equine medicine at New Bolton Center. In 2011 she became a veterinary technician specialist in equine veterinary nursing. Jamie currently works in the emergency and critical care department at New Bolton Center. When not at work, Jamie enjoys driving her ponies from the New Bolton semi-feral herd!
